Income Report – August, 2018

September 6, 2018/4 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

Every month I share my income report, which includes all the money I make on the side, in addition to my full time job. This is an opportunity to be transparent about how people make money online and showcase all the different streams of income you can have.

In August, I had 11 different streams of income (AWESOME) that generated passive income. These all required a little effort to set up, but continue to pay dividends (lol, get it). Feel free to copy any of these.

Income Report – August, 2018

I definitely didn’t make as much as last month, but it still was a great month. In fact, this was the second highest income report this year.

Here’s the break down of all the different income streams:

Sources of Income This Month – $$335.74
$200 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$26.91 – Stock Photography
$26.32 – Cashback Credit Card
$26.28 – Dividends
$23.49 – Wallet Squirrel Affiliate Marketing
$12.04 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$9.44 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$6.45 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$3.50 – Lending Club
$1.31 – Epic Niche Site Affiliate Marketing

Where does that money go?

Basically it goes to pay for the Wallet Squirrel servers, but most of it goes to my dividend portfolio. Recently I bought some additional shares of Iron Mountain Realty (IRM) because I enjoy REITs and this is a great one.

What’s Next?

This is a really short post because I’ve been developing something awesome, and I’ll soon share a bit more about it. However I first need to validate the idea in the next couple weeks. I’m really nervous about it, but promise to share!

Income Report – July, 2018

August 1, 2018/12 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

Every month I enjoy sharing these income reports because it provides transparency and accountability to what I’m doing on Wallet Squirrel. Plus it’s a great reason for me to assess everything I make and where that money goes.

Wallet Squirrel is going through a change

Sadly, my best friend Adam who has been an awesome contributor to Wallet Squirrel has had to refocus efforts on his family and career so he is taking a break from the blog.

It’s tough because so many of you have come to expect articles every Monday and Thursday. I’ve read it in the comments and seen our web analytics jump on these days. To be honest, it makes me so happy when people realize we’ve mixed it up because you’re paying attention to what we do here on Wallet Squirrel!

So it’s back to me, Andrew, to take over Wallet Squirrel. I’ve learned so much and continue to plan to implement everything I’ve learned. However, it’s just me so I’m trying to figure out what the best publishing schedule is (maybe every Monday?) and make it work with my schedule and you, the audience.

One thing is always certain, I will ALWAYS publish these income reports. These are my favorite and I love them!

Income Report – July, 2018

It was a big month for Wallet Squirrel. I had my best month yet and this marks the first time my income from Wallet Squirrel broke $500! I knew it was possible, but it’s been a long road to get here. It’s still hard to think about when I write this, but here it is!

How cool is that! This breakdown is as follows, making my Bluehost affiliate the largest income this month.

Sources of Income This Month – $534.34

$300 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$145.35 – Sponsored Link in Old Post
$31.89 – Cashback Credit Card
$20.11 – Dividends
$11.69 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$8.65 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$5.20 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$4.96 – Stock Photography
$3.50 – Lending Club
$1.97 – Epic Niche Site Affiliate Marketing
$1.02 – Wallet Squirrel Affiliate Marketing

Where does this money go every month?

Every month I spend money on maintaining the website and marketing tools. Last month I spent roughly $100 on everything to maintain the site. Plus I bought 2 shares of stock for my dividend portfolio. One share of Microsoft at $108.64, yes I know it was high (ugh) and one share of Iron Mountain Realty at $34.84. These will slowly add to my list of dividends I receive every month. Wahoo!

What’s Next!

In addition to me getting used to run Wallet Squirrel on my own again. I have an idea for a start-up, I’ll share more details in upcoming posts, but I’m currently creating a business plan for this start-up so I can think through it fully and understand all the details before I jump into it or not.

PS. Writing a business plan tough work, lol.

Income Report – June, 2018

July 2, 2018/8 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

Every month we publish our Income Reports and share exactly what we make on Wallet Squirrel. We do this to hold ourselves accountable plus we’ve gotten really comfortable being transparent about our finances.

Everything we make, we list on these income reports to analyze how we’re doing and what we can do to improve. It’s pretty cool, and fun to see what we make.

What’s New Next Month

I gave a sneak peek to our email list last week, and now want to share the exciting news with everyone here. Our goal has been 80/20 with content creation and marketing. That is hoping to market Wallet Squirrel 80% of our time and 20% on writing new content. However the last 6 months it has been the opposite of 80% of our time writing new articles and only 20% on marketing it.

We’ve thought hard how we’re going to spend more time marketing primarily because most of our web traffic comes from Google. To get 80% of our time on marketing, and grow Wallet Squirrel we need to go down to 1 article a week (these Monday articles) and spend an entire week marketing each article then the next week writing the next one.

Our goal is use this time creating more helpful articles and crush SEO. So we’ll try this for the second half of the year.

What We Did Last Month

Now that we talked about what’s coming, let’s take a moment to recap what we did accomplish last month.

Andrew Articles

  • Of course, I started off the month with an Income Report for May. We (Andrew & Adam) each made $124.58 so that was exciting! And we share how we did it with you!
  • It was really interesting when I did a 2 year recap review of Lending Club. I invested $300 in Lending Club 2 years ago and recieved about 9% annualized interest. That’s not bad. See how I did it!
  • What I learned about life after a legit fire alarm was a memory I wanted to share that really affected my life and what’s important in a minimalistic life.

Adam Articles

  • Wow, it’s been 7 years since Adam got married. That’s crazy to think about since I was the one who got ordained and married them. On this anniversary Adam shared what 7 years of marriage has taught him about personal finances.
  • He also did an awesome round up of bloggers income in May.
  • Adam balances a wife, baby, job, Wallet Squirre, and friends (plus we’re training to do a Tough Mudder). It’s impressive how he balances it all. So he took a stab at sharing how he does it in 5 strategies for a perfectly balanced life.
  • After checking Zillow and discovering his home value is rapidly increasing in the Denver market, he asked himself to refinance his mortgage or not?

Income Report – June, 2018

It wasn’t an impressive income for June, but like I said. Hopefully, this increased attention to marketing will help us grow in the upcoming 6 months.

So to recap.

Sources of Income This Month – $74.00

$23.39 – Cashback Credit Card
$8.51 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$8.50 – Dividends
$8.00 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$7.66 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$5.63 – Wallet Squirrel Affiliate Marketing
$4.66 – Robinhood App Affiliate Program
$3.50 – Lending Club
$2.38 – Epic Niche Site Affiliate Marketing
$1.78 – Stock Photography

Where does this money go?

After expenses (hosting/social media manager/etc.) Adam and I split the income each month to use that cash in different ways.

I use that extra cash to invest in my dividend portfolio. Which this last month I’ve bought 2 more shares of IRM. Those two shares will continue to produce annual income for doing nothing. That is pretty cool!

Adam uses his extra cash to help pay down his mortgage to reach a debt free life. This is a great goal and where most people agree your extra money should go each month.

Income Report – May, 2018

June 7, 2018/4 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

Every month we report how much we made with all the different ways we try to earn money online. We strongly believe there are more ways to earn money rather than a typical 8-5 job, so we’re out to prove it’s possible. Here are all the different ways we’ve earned money in May.

As always, feel free to copy what we did and make it better. We’re all here to help each other.

What We Accomplished in May

  • Andrew wrote some great articles in May including Get Paid to Write Articles: 20+ Websites That Pay You For Writing in 2018, Day 137 of the Epic Niche Site Battle, How my Affiliate Site is Doing, Stock Analysis of IRM, and 7 Good Reasons I Still Carry Cash.
  • Adam also wrote some awesome articles in May including a Side Hustle Spotlight on How To Become a Virtual Assistant, April Round Up of our Favorite Income Bloggers, What I Learned From Starting A Business That Horribly Failed, and How You Can Save Money on Your Summer Adventures.
  • We were super appreciative to be featured on two blogs this month including FITnancials and MoneyMaaster! Thank you so much Alexis and Jordan!
  • We finally finished our How To Start A Blog free email course. Something we’ve been working on for a while now. We’re trying to add more depth to this post and give people a chance to ask us questions directly!
  • We added a “disclosure” tag below all our blog post titles to make us more compliant (did you see it?). We went through Upwork and hired a Freelancer that turned out to be awesome. Let me know if you need any recommendations.
  • Lastly, Wallet Squirrel increased our Domain Authority to 32. That’s pretty cool. Hopefully, Google likes us more now. =)

May Income Report

This was another down month, but it had some unexpected surprises that I’ll get into.

Where all my income is coming from

Cashback Credit Card  (66.30) – This is the highest my 2% cashback has ever paid me. In March, I had a car accident (that I’m still dealing with), but my insurance asked me if they should send me the money or if they should send it to the body shop to pay for the damage. I initially thought it would be easier for them to send it to the body shop, but quickly realized if they sent me the money. I could charge the damages to my 2% cashback card and then immediately pay it off with their money. That’s what I did and received an extra $40. Wahoo!

Dividends (25.67) – I regularly talk about how much I love dividend stocks and this month aligned with several companies paying out dividends. I essentially received $25.67 for doing nothing but owning a couple companies. True passive income.

Interest Checking/Savings Account (8.42) – Man am I glad I switched to Ally Bank from Wells Fargo. I now have an interest checking and a 1% Interest Savings Account. I usually keep about $4,000 in both my checking and savings account as a buffer and that pays decent interest every month. Currently, I have a bit more in my savings account since I’m saving up for a Prague trip in October. Luckily those Prague savings keep earning me more interest. Wahoo!

Seeking Alpha Articles ($7.78) – So Seeking Alpha is a finance website that analyses the stock market. I wrote 3 articles for them in July 2017 and their pay model pays me $0.01 for every page view and those three articles continue to bring in traffic. I love it! I should really write another article for them.

Wallet Squirrel AdSense ($6.73) – I purposely don’t include a lot of ads on this site because frankly, I hate ads. I have only one in the side bar and definitely no ads that follow you around the entire site. Maybe that reduces my ad revenue, but I’m ok with that. It still brings in a few dollars every month, but luckily that revenue keeps increasing as Wallet Squirrel continues to get more page views every month!

Stock Photography ($4.70) – Not a lot this month for our stock photography. I blame Adam (lol). No this regularly fluctuates but continues to motivate us to take more stock photos whenever we travel or hike. It’s another form of Passive Income that we really love.

Lending Club ($3.77) – Oh Lending Club. I invested $300 over 2 years ago and this continues to trickle in money. It’s not a lot, usually around 5%, but it’s a nice diversity from the stock market that I really like. Plus I just switched my account to “Auto” investing so that it’ll invest in loans that meet my certain criteria so I’m not manually choosing loans which takes time. I’m curious how this change will affect my future interest. Hopefully for the better. You can bet I’ll write about it.

Epic Niche Site Affiliate Marketing ($1.21) – This is purely from the Affiliate Site I created apart of the Epic Niche Site Battle. Honestly I haven’t given it much thought and really need to add a couple more blog posts. Especially since it’s proven to make money with the very limited traffic it currently gets.

Where does this money go?

After expenses (hosting/SEMrush/social media manager/etc.) Adam and I split the income each month to use that cash different ways.

I use that extra cash to invest in my dividend portfolio. Which this last month I’ve bought 4 shares so far of IRM which continues to see a rise in their stock price. Those four shares will produce $9.64 for me annually for doing nothing. That is pretty cool!

Adam uses his extra cash to help pay down his mortgage to reach a debt-free life. This is a great goal and, where most people agree, your extra money should go each month.

What’s next in June?

Adam and I are going to try to take some photos together for a refresh of the Wallet Squirrel homepage and to make our site more personalized. I’ve noticed that people relate better to blogs that have lots of photos of the author. Since we’re real people and the ones writing all the content. I figure we’ll try to look like real people. lol

Lastly, I’m going to try to reach outside of my comfort zone and pitch some larger news agencies on some awesome money saving tips I’ve picked up over the years. I’ve never pitched a major news website before so I don’t know what to expect. Any tips?

Income Report – April, 2018

May 3, 2018/1 Comment/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

It was a tough month. While I feel like our productivity was crazy high in April, it really didn’t reflect in our earnings which kind of destroys me.

Every month we publish these income report as a way of keeping track of how much we earn each month and provide a timeline of how we grow as a blog. Plus when we provide this level of transparency, I hope it shows you that it doesn’t take a lot to earn extra money on the side.

As I mentioned we were productive in lots of little ways, one of which was our articles that both Adam and myself (Andrew) wrote.

What Adam & Andrew Wrote About in April

Adam wrote 5 articles
  • Adam’s first post in April is CRUSHING it (140 Pinterest shares so far) on an interesting topic “18 Lies Making You Broke“. If you can make it through all 18, you’re well on your way to financial independence!
  • Adam also cherry-picked our favorite side hustles wit “15 Great Ways To Make Extra Money on the Side“. These are some of the best ways we’ve found so far to make extra money to use for investing.
  • Adam went through our favorite bloggers online and shared their income with the “March, 2018 Blogger Income Report RoundUp“, a collection of who made what and DANG is it impressive!
  • New to blogging and need suggestions on some great affiliate programs? Adam shared the “7 Best Affiliate Programs for Beginners“.
  • One of the reasons we started to do awesome on Pinterest is due to Adam and his use of the program called Tailwind. So after we had crazy growth from Pinterest Adam created his “Tailwind Review: How We Grew Our Pinterest Traffic by 10,000%“.
Andrew wrote 3 articles
  • After getting frustrated with our keyword use and traffic, I purchased SEMrush to help me be a little my analytical about our approach to blogging and journaled about this experience in “SEMrush Review – How To Get Great Website And Blog Post Ideas“.
  • In an effort to save more time in my day, especially lunch time. I decided to try meal replacement shakes to save on money, time and dishes. You can read about this experience with “How I Replaced Lunches With Meal Replacement Shakes to Save Money“.
  • Lastly I started to consider driving for Uber on the weekends to make extra money, but before I made the plunge I wanted to ask “How Much Do Uber Drivers Make?“. I found several studies and driver stories to share how much they made per hour.

April 2018 – Income Report

As I hinted to below, it wasn’t an impressive month, but we still broke $100 so that is better than my average last year.

This income really came down to 12 different income streams.

Sources of Income This Month – $126.41
$50.00 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$15.50 – Cashback Credit Card
$13.55 – Robinhood App Affiliate Program
$11.86 – Dividends
$11.06 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$8.61 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$7.77 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$3.50 – Lending Club
$2.08 – Stock Photography
$1.45 – Wallet Squirrel Affiliate Marketing
$1.03 – Epic Niche Site Affiliate Marketing

Where Does That Money Go?

After expenses (hosting/social media manager/etc.) Adam and I split the income each month to use that cash different ways.

I use that extra cash to invest in my dividend portfolio. Especially last month I used the extra cash I had to buy a few more shares of Disney (DIS) while it was under $100. Wahoo!

Adam used his half to help pay off his family’s debt. Apparently, babies are expensive. I have no kids, so I don’t know. Lol

What Do We Plan To Do In May?

Well, Adam and I are meeting up this weekend to figure out why after a year our income hasn’t significantly grown. This is really bumming me out. So I’m hoping we can come up with some ideas on how to improve that! Any awesome ideas?

Hopefully, some ideas from this meeting will inform our May goals. =)

Income Report – March, 2018

April 5, 2018/11 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

These income reports are a chance for all of you to see how much we make on Wallet Squirrel and a chance to copy our success with the different ways we make money.

In March we had about 10 different income sources and a few made a lot more than we expected in March. Before we get to that, let me share some of the fun updates we had in March.

Important Topics We Covered In March

  • Adam has two dogs and after one of them had some serious surgery concerns, he reviewed “How Much is Pet Insurance – Is It Worth It For Your Wallet“
  • Adam also interviewed one of our old classmates from college who has created a success photography side business. His full interview with how she did it is in the “Starting a Photography Business & Being a Mom of Four“
  • Andrew was stoked in a recent article “I Just Got A Library Card & Quit Buying Amazon Audiobooks“. He now has been using the app Overdrive to download audiobooks from his local library for free without ever having to enter a library.
  • Adam shared the income of our favorite bloggers online in the February Income Roundup. These are a list of income report results from numerous bloggers we regularly follow! Many of these bloggers make more than us, but as you’ll see, we’re catching up!
  • As a new addition to our Ways to Make Money page, Andrew shares his movie extra experience from college in “How I Made $80 A Day Being A Movie Extra“. It was a great experience on the set of the 2010 Adrien Brody movie “The Experiment”. If you’ve ever considered being a movie extra you should read this and learn from this experience!
  • After pondering hours onto of a mountain, Adam had an epiphany with “The Ultimate Reason Why You Should Buy Used Instead of New“. Can you add to this of places to buy used over new?
  • Earlier in the month, Andrew had a nightmare that he was fired from his job and didn’t know what to do. So he created an in-case-fired emergency plan in the “10 Things To Do If You Lost Your Job & Need Money Now“. He now has a plan if he ever loses his job. There’s a certain amount of freedom knowing you have a plan like this!

Income Report – March, 2018

One of the most interesting parts of these income reports is while I maintain an average of around $160 every month, how I get there is always interesting. This month my biggest income was something I wasn’t expecting at all!

Yes, this month for the first time our stock photography was the biggest income generator. That was because Adam had some photos sell on higher end sites and I guess people were buying more photos in March. The rest of the income was under $20 each, but all together added to over $68.

The other exciting tid-bit about this income was the addition of Affiliate Income. My latest Affiliate Website from our Epic Niche Site Battle has already started to make money!

Sources of Income This Month

  • $86.62 – Stock Photography
  • $18.00 – Robinhood App Affiliate Program
  • $16.73 – Cashback Credit Card
  • $10.33 – Seeking Alpha Articles
  • $8.49 – Dividends
  • $5.08 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
  • $4.37 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
  • $4.20 – Lending Club
  • $1.40 – Affiliate Marketing

Where Does This Money Go Each Month?

Every month Adam and I (Andrew) split our website income. The above infographic is only Andrew’s half. Still pretty great huh?

I (Andrew) use my portion to buy additional stocks for my portfolio. Last month I bought additional shares of Disney (DIS) on the dip since I believe their stock will increase in 2019 when they launch their streaming service. I bought (2) shares of DIS this month at an average 101.61. Their dividend is 1.58% so those 2 shares I bought will make me $3.21 every year for the rest of my life, increasing as the stock price and dividend rate increases. Pretty cool!

Adam uses his half to help pay off his family’s debt. His philosophy is to pay off his student loans and mortgage first then invest when he’s debt free. So you get to see two different philosophy’s in action!

What Did/Doing in March/April

Last month my focus was to launch my new affiliate website and I’m SUPER EXCITED to say that it launched on March 10th and it’s up! I’m not sharing the domain name with anyone right now but I can say it’s started to trickle in traffic (1,430 page views so far) and earned $2.80!

Also in last month’s Income Report, I said I wanted to refresh our How To Start A Blog post. I did this making it easier to navigate and understand how to set up your first blog. What do you think? Plus added the “Featured on Rockstar Finance” badge in our footer. We’re really proud of this!

We’re nailing our goals!

My goal for April is to include a few more blog posts and continue to build links to the affiliate website. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to link build?

Income Report – February 2018

March 1, 2018/10 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

As I calculate all the ways we made money in the month of February, it’s a lovely (Valentines Day Pun) feeling. =)

In total, we had 10 different sources of income in addition to our day jobs. That is really cool! Every month I add all these up and share our income reports to show how two regular guys are making extra money and investing it for retirement. Technically I’m (Andrew) the one investing the money, Adam uses his half to pay off student loan debt.

Lately though he’s been paying down Veterinarian fees for his two dogs. Dogs are expensive. He can share more later. What I can share now are all the fun articles we wrote last month!

Articles We Wrote On WS Last Month

Andrew Dove More Into Cryptocurrency

  • Since Bitcoin is back on the rise and its tax season, I reminded people that Yes, You Have To Pay Taxes On Bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies are taxed just like stocks.

Oddly that was the only article I personally wrote in February. The rest of the Thursdays (my day to write) were full of guest posts. This isn’t a normal thing, but I needed some time to set up my affiliate website since I plan to soft launch it on March 4th.

Adam Became a Rockstar Finance Favorite

  • If you didn’t get our email, Adam’s article Spend Money Like The Rich was selected as a feature article on Rockstar Finance and created tons of traffic for our site. Check out what’s so interesting about this article.
  • One of Adam’s friends has a published children’s book so Adam did a great interview on How To Become A Children’s Book Author and Illustrator.
  • My favorite monthly post of Adam’s is the Favorite Monthly Blogger Income Reports from Around The Web. A collection of our favorite bloggers and how much money they make each month. Read this article to be inspired to find new ways of earning extra money.
  • Also this month Adam shared 16 Daily Habits That Will Improve Your Life. While I personally would have loved to see more gifs, it was a great list of habits. Especially #3 (Wake Up Early), I’m going to try to get up at 5:30 am tomorrow to get up, eat breakfast and plan out my day before it even starts. =)

February Income Report

It used to be that an average month was around $60 and that was awesome. That’s $60 more a month than I ever had before in addition to my regular 9-5 job. Yet lately $150 has become the new average and that’s even better! Here’s how it breaks down.

Yes, this is still the old infographic. Adam keeps encouraging me to update this to something cooler. I’m on it!

Sources of Income for February
$50.00 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$34.13 – Cashback Credit Card
$25.34 – Dividends
$14.94 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$12.50 – Ebates
$12.23 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$3.83 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$3.26 – Lending Club
$1.43 – Stock Photography

Where Does That Money Go?

As I mentioned above, Adam uses his half to pay off his family’s debt. It’s a great goal and one I feel he has in common with many people. I, however, use my extra income every month to invest in my portfolio I share online here at Wallet Squirrel. So each month I’m buying more stocks. In particular, in February, I picked up more shares of Realty Income, stock ticker (O). Wahoo!

What Are We Doing In March

I hinted to earlier, I’m launching my new affiliate website on March 4th. It’s a pretty simple site so I’ll have tons of marketing to do, but it’s just a good feeling to say it’s launched. Yet I have tons more content to write!

I also hope to refresh our “How To Start A Blog” post adding more graphics and make it feel easier. It’s currently text heavy and I want it to be a little easier.

Lastly, I want to add one of the cool “Featured on Rockstar Finance” badges on our site since its a point of pride currently. I’m thinking in the footer or sidebar, what do you think?

That’s what I have on my plate, what about you?

January Roundup – Our Favorite Income Reports From Around the Web

February 19, 2018/6 Comments/in Income Roundup /by Adam

We look through these January (and one December) income reports to see what we can learn. We explore what other bloggers are doing to make extra income as the pursue financial freedom. Let's learn!

January Roundup – Our Favorite Income Reports From Around the Web

Today we take a look around the internet at our favorite income reports from around the web. These articles bring together seven to ten bloggers to see what they did in the past month. Some of these people will be fresh for this month while others will be regulars.

The point of this article is for all of us to learn what other bloggers are doing to bring income in each month. Hopefully, you will find something new to increase your own income next month.

Before we get started, let’s take a look at how Andrew started off 2018. Overall, he had a pretty successful month bringing in $131.60 during the month. He also wrapped up 2017 with a total count of the income he made online. So, go check out his income report to see how he accomplished it and give him a congratulations comment at the bottom.

Here we go with this month’s featured bloggers!

Bobby Hoyt – Millennial Money Man – $155,424.10 (January 2018)

Holy crap Bobby! What a stunning month of growth!

For those who do not know, Bobby usually earns between $10k to $15k each month.

Where did this growth come from? Well, Bobby launched a new course called the Facebook Side Hustle Course. This course brought in $139,488.00 (gross revenue) in its opening month!

It will be fun to see if this monthly revenue becomes a norm or not. My guess is yes. I think we just witnessed another blogger, after tons of hard work, launch himself into the $100,000+ a month club.

Keep up the amazing work Bobby and thank you for being such an inspiration!

Pat Flynn – $167,553.31 (December 2017)

Pat’s income reports are always a month behind because I do this roundup in the middle of the month and he posts later on in the month.

This month Pat talks about wrapping up 2017 and getting ready for 2018. He has done his usual routines to conquer all of the goals he has set up for 2018.

I always include Pat on this income report because he is extremely smart at what he does. This will hopefully give you ideas and motivation to conquer new goals yourself.

Michelle Schroeder – $114,812 (January 2018)

Michelle had a solid and very consistent start to 2018. She brought in $114,812 for the month.

This month Michelle reminds us that she started off by earning $0 a month as well. With a lot of hard work, persistence, and patience she has been able to grow that income into what it is today. Andrew and I use Michelle as our inspiration to keep pushing through hard times each and every week.

In case you missed it, Andrew and I had an article featured on her website last week about our SEO and Web Marketing strategy.

Lanny and Bert – Dividend Diplomats – $139.02 (January 2018 Bert’s)

Bert started 2018 off with an 8.77% increase in dividend income compared to 2017. Though his numbers were a little lower than normal, this growth is a great way to start the year off.

Keep up the great work Bert!

Curious as to what the heck dividend income is? Andrew explains it really well in his What are Dividends and Dividend Investing article. Check it out to learn more!

Keith Park – DivHut – $1,327.29 (January 2018)

Keith is another dividend investor that is starting 2018 off strongly! He was able to bring in $1,327.79 for the month of January.

His numbers were strongly boosted by the BCR/BDK merger. This brought in an extra $897.56 for him. Pretty awesome right?!?! It will be fun to see what he does with this extra income.

Keith has a very nice and clean strategy to gaining extra income from dividends. Andrew has also written up what his strategy is in his My Dividend Investing Strategy.

Reverse the Crush – $28.26 (January 2018)

We wrap up this income report round up with another dividend who opened up 2018 with a bang! Reverse the Crush had his best month ever by earning $28.26 last month in just dividend income. That is pretty awesome!

Compared to December he more than doubled his dividend income!

Keep up the awesome work!

Outcomes

We can take a lot away from Bobby and Michelle this month. Every very successful blogger had to start at the bottom. They were not handed a golden ticket that took them to where they are now. They had to work hard every day to get their blog to where it is today.

This is why I love blogging. You truely get out of it what you put into it.

If you are looking to diversify your income sources more. Check out our Ways to Earn More Money page. Here Andrew and I personally review as many different ways to earn extra money as we can to help you decide if it is right for you.

Income Report – January, 2018

February 1, 2018/9 Comments/in Income Report /by Wallet Squirrel

Every month I share how much I make online and in addition to my regular 8-5 job. It’s a record for myself that there are other ways to make money other than working for someone else. It’s a happy thought.

In January I made a decent amount. To be exact I made $131.60. It’s a little less than the $265.30 I made in January of 2017, but that’s ok. It’s still on the right path. =)

We do more on Wallet Squirrel than track our income though, we write articles about saving money, making money and personal finance hacks that make us better people. Here are some of the highlights in January.

What We Wrote About In January

Andrew Typed Away Frantically

  • Andrew started his new Amazon Affiliate Website and shared the beginning struggles starting it.
  • He later reflected on how his entire life changed when he started investing 3 years ago and how it was the best decision he ever made.
  • In 2017, we committed to giving one lucky person on our email list, exactly $100 to start investing. This is how we decided who got the $100.
  • Andrew was stoked to share that his favorite mobile brokerage has started Robinhood Crypto that lets you trade cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Even though Andrew isn’t a big fan of cryptocurrencies.

Adam Liked Apps

  • Adam wrote a review on Betterment. Adam has used Betterment the last 3 years or so since Andrew introduced it to him. Except Adam uses it WAY better than Andrew ever did.
  • The long-awaited December Round-Up – Our Favorite Income Reports From Around The Web is always one of Adam’s favorites.
  • Adam tried out a review of appKarma. He was curious to see how it advertised “making extra money while playing games on your phone”. Check out the article if you’re a phone gamer.

January Income Report

I kind of shot the gun saying how much we made in January, but it was such a great lead in. Here is the full income report and break down.

The full breakdown with how I made each income stream is pretty awesome.

$50 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$27.59 – Cashback Credit Card
$14.71 – Robinhood App Affiliate Program
$12.23 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$11.49 – Dividends
$6.47 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$3.82 – Lending Club
$3.50 – Interest Checking/Savings Account
$1.79 – Stock Photography

Where Does That Money Go?

We have some minor expenses like our social media software that costs about $30 a month, but the rest of Adam’s portion goes toward paying off debt. However, my portion goes towards investing in my portfolio. Specifically this last month I bought 1 share of Realty Income (O) and Walt Disney (DIS). I’m a big fan of both of these stocks.

What Are We Doing in February?

For me that’s easy. In February I am hoping to finally launch the new affiliate site for our Epic Niche Site Battle. In January I spent the month creating the website from scratch, now I need to create some great content for people.

Adam, however, will focus on Wallet Squirrel in February. He has a laser-like focus on doing everything we can to rock out our Pinterest social media traffic. I’m really excited to see how this works!

Income Report – December, 2017

January 4, 2018/1 Comment/in Income Roundup /by Wallet Squirrel

If you ever asked yourself “Can I make money online?”. The answer is yes.

I can say with complete accuracy that through the entire year of 2017, through side hustling, learning new tricks and perfecting everything we do on Wallet Squirrel. I made money online.

I made $2,197.81 in 2017. Can you freaking believe that???

Every month I publish these income reports to show how much we make, how much you can make and how we did it. Everything I (Andrew) make, I invest in my portfolio and everything Adam makes, he uses to pay off his family’s debt.

Cool Things We Did In December

Andrew Ended The Year Right

  • Andrew announced that Wallet Squirrel is starting a completely new affiliate website from scratch. I’ll be publishing everything I do on our blog here and share how the site is doing while competing with another blogger for the Epic Niche Site Battle.
  • Andrew conducted a Review of TeeSpring which allows you to make money by designing cool t-shirts to sell. This was my second time trying TeeSpring. It’s OK, but not a realistic way to make extra money.
  • Andrew had a mid-life crisis over his happiness at work, so I wrote “Serious Question, What Makes You Happy At Work“. I’m still thinking about this. Any feedback would be appreciated!
  • Andrew missed his Thursday article last week because our entire website crashed. So I spent the Thursday working with Bluehost to get our site back up. This is the second time it’s happened, once before with our iPage account. It should be resolved. =)

Adam Got In The Holiday Spirit

  • Adam has a 1-year-old but already starting to think about “How and What to Teach Your Kids About Money“. He’s starting off REALLY early. Personally being a parent sounds draining.
  • Adam assembled the “November Round Up – Our Favorite Income Reports From Around the Web“. This is a personal favorite on our website. Do you have any good recommendations to add?
  • While Christmas shopping Adam thought of “11 Last Minute Budget-Friendly Christmas Gifts for the Family“.
  • Adam did a great recap of some of our top posts of the year in “Happy Holidays from Wallet Squirrel – A Look Back at 2017“. He hit some of the top posts in Side Husting, Investing, Saving and Blogging. It gives us warm and fuzzies thinking about everything we accomplished in 2017.

How Much We Made In December

These Income Reports are primarily how much I (Andrew) made last month, but Adam and I share a lot of the revenue, so duplicate the revenue for Adam.

Cool right?

A majority of this income came through my cashback credit card because I spent money during the holidays. Yes I suck. Plus a few Bluehost affiliate sales. Here is the complete breakdown.

Sources of Income for December
$100.00 – Bluehost Affiliate Income
$43.35 – Cashback Credit Card
$13.29 – Robinhood App Affiliate Program
$9.98 – Seeking Alpha Articles
$7.83 – Dividends
$6.65 – Stock Photography
$4.08 – Wallet Squirrel AdSense
$3.76 – Lending Club
$1.55 – Interest Checking/Savings Account

What Do We Do With That $183.84?

Well after paying for website hosting, our CoSchedule account. I use that extra money to invest in my portfolio and Adam uses his share to help pay off his families debt.

However in January since I’m starting the Epic Niche Site Battle, I’m using some of that $183.84 to pay for a new affiliate website domain name and a cool WordPress theme. That’s about $12 for the domain name and $70 for the WordPress theme.

What’s Happing Next Month?

I’ve spent all of December thinking about my new niche affiliate website. I added them up and thought of over 234 different website domains to match the niche idea I have in my head.

January 2018 Goals

I hope for the end of January to have my affiliate site completely up and running with a few awesome blog posts under its belt, but I still have much to do like buy the domain, build the site (and all pages) as well create some awesome posts, and start promoting it. Wish me luck!
