Income Report – January, 2022
Hello, fellow Squirrels!
January was not the start to 2022 that we wanted. That is the way life goes sometimes. We had some major life events happen within January that needed to take priority over everything in life. Again, that is okay. While Wallet Squirrel means the world to Andrew and me, our families will always come first.
I see this a lot in our society. People forget what really matters in life. To be honest, I cannot blame them. It is very easy to mix up priorities. I do this all of the time with my phone by spending too much time mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.
Let’s see what we did get accomplished and what we are planning for in February.
What We Managed to Accomplish in January!
- The biggest item for the month is our comment sections are back for each and every post!
- We took a break from comments but we missed the community engagement on our posts. One of our goals in 2022 is to bring that sense of community back.
We missed hearing for you all! Shoot us a “Hello!” in the comments below!
- We published several more articles.
- We to share tons of cool finance jokes, infographics, and quotes on social media. Check out our Instagram!
Income For January
For January, our monthly income fell $385.66 down to $196.50. That is the way things go when you are running an entrepreneur. Some months are more prosperous than others. This does cause an emotional rollercoaster that took me a long time to understand.
One day you are on cloud nine because this awesome thing you created had an awesome month. Then the next month comes in like a dark cloud casting a shadow over your joy. If you have ever felt this, don’t worry, this is normal. Some months are going to be down. It is how you handle those down months that will determine if you will get back on track or not. So keep your head up. Stay positive. Use these down months as motivation. If you can do that, I can almost guarantee that you will bounce back even stronger.
These are all pretty incredible income generators and we’ve mentioned them before on the blog.
- Affiliate Marketing – we earn a commission if someone buys a product through a link on your website
- Blue Host Affiliate – an affiliate link for website hosting we use.
- Online Surveys – we earn money from participating in online surveys like Swagbucks.
- Stock Photography – we earn money whenever one of our photos sells online.
- Interest Checking/Saving Account – we earn interest on the money in our checking and savings accounts.
- Cash Back Credit Card – we earn extra money via 2% cashback from using our credit card.
- Lending Club – we earn interest from peer-to-peer lending.
- Dividends – we earn dividends from the stocks we own.
Monthly Expenses for Wallet Squirrel
The expression “It takes money to make money” is actually pretty accurate. As we learn new skills, we find new software and processes that help us make more money. However, they come with a cost for their convenience. Here is where our money went in July.
Monthly Expenses – $215 Total
- Bluehost [$36] – Hosting Service
- Ahrefs [$104] – Keyword and web traffic research
- Sitelock [$8] – Extra security for our Bluehost servers
- Domain [$2] – So we can keep the domain WalletSquirrel.com
- Bloom [$7] – Our email forms, but we’ll likely be getting rid of this soon
- Grammarly [$12] – We can’t live without this amazing grammar tool
- The Noun Project [$4] – The best site for icons for our infographics
- Sendible [$30] – A social media scheduling platform. Adam seems to really enjoy it!
- Canva [$12] – Helps us create cool graphics!
Everything leftover has been invested in my dividend portfolio.
What’s Next For February
Adam and Andrew met at the beginning of February to talk about our goals for 2022. We feel like we need to get back to our basics for blogging and continuing to build our community. Over the next month, we plan on creating lots of new content for Wallet Squirrel and our affiliate website.
We also have some house cleaning to do to get back to basics. These basics will make us more efficient and should increase our monthly views in the coming months.
Adam continues to work on his last piece for his Metaverse series. This article is taking a lot more time than he expected but this is something not to be rushed.
Cheers!
Adam and Andrew
